Calculating costs for a part

In this section, you will learn how to calculate the cost of a part in costing24 in just a few steps.

  1. Upload a model in costing24. Select one of your own models or a sample model.
    The selected model is displayed in the 3D preview.

  2. Change the material group (optional).
    You have specified the material group.
  3. Change the semi-finished product by selecting semi-finished product from the semi-finished products available in the drop-down menu (optional).

  4. Change the suggested semi-finished product by selecting a semi-finished product from the table of semi-finished products available in costing24 (optional).

  5. Change the suggested semi-finished product by specifying your own semi-finished product or specifying the blank for the semi-finished material.
    1. In the Semi-finished product field, click on the list, scroll at the end of the list and then click on Define custom semi-finished product or blank.

    2. Change the type of semi-finished product in the Define semi-finished product field (optional).
    3. Specify one or more additions to the width of the semi-finished product by specifying the total of the measurements including the addition in the Total column, e.g. the total of the outer diameter of 32.00 mm (optional).
    4. Select the Define custom blank check box.
    5. Specify one or more additions for the dimensions of the semi-finished product by specifying the total measurement including the addition in the Gesamt column, e.g. The entire length of 138,00 mm.
    6. Specify the costs and the unit for the semi-finished product in the Costs field, e.g. 1.85 $ per kg.

  6. Change the suggested semi-finished product by uploading the own raw part geometry (a 3D model) (optional).
    1. In the Semi-finished product field, scroll to the end of the list, then click on Upload raw part geometry.

    2. Select a model using the file dialog or drag and drop a file into the window.
      The selected model is displayed in the 3D preview.
    3. Add one or more geometries to the semi-finished product (optional).
    4. Specify the costs and the unit for the semi-finished product in the Costs field, e.g. 1.85 $ per kg.

  7. Specify one or more surface treatments, e.g. Grinding (optional).

  8. Specify the approximate level of the hourly rate, setup time, cutting parameters, additional time and programming times (optional). You can select a tendency from five or nine levels between low to high.

  9. Add a thread to cylindrical faces or tolerances on drill holes to the model or annotate faces as Unprocessed (optional).
  10. Click on Calculate.
The cost for the part are calculated and the cost distribution is shown in the 3D preview in traffic light color coding.

Options after calculating a part
  • You can change the lot size in the Lot size field. The manufacturing costs, purchase price and the purchase price incl. programming based on the new lot size are displayed. See: Changing the lot size
  • You can change the parameters for the calculation. Click on Change parameters.
  • You can select a new model. Click on Select new model.
  • You can give simus systems GmbH your feedback regarding your calculation to improve our service. Click on Feedback.
